Donald Levering

the pile
the heat
of human hands
what other creature
would spread the entrails
of Mother Earth over the land

and in the disemboweling
the whirling drilling rig
has left this mound of scat
to wash into rivers like mud
to lift into lungs like dust
to tear into flesh like Toothed Rocks1

1 A monster of landscape that had to be overcome by the Hero Twins.
